Sheffield MedSoc

An excellent way of releasing that competitive demon inside all medics in a socially acceptable way.

Come and join Sheffield Medic’s Badminton! You’ll get the chance to take part in doubles matches which can be friendly or competitive – you could participate in tournaments between members of our team and teams from other medical schools. Whether you’re Gail Emms standard or have never picked up a racquet in your life, medic or not, we’d really love for you to come along! We play every Wednesday evening and have squad training Monday night.

We look forward to seeing you on the court!

Bouldering is climbing without a harness or helmet. Our bouldering club is a friendly open club that meet on Sundays and head to the climbing wall. We'll climb for a few hours and then go to the pub for a drink, some food and a game of pool. Come and see what we're all about.

We welcome players of all abilities, whether you’ve played for England or you’ve never even picked up a stick! This year our 1st team were crowned national champions for the 3rd time in the last 4 years, our 2nd team picked up the NAMS (National Association of Medical Schools) Plate and the intramural team ensured that medics remained the best team within Sheffield University. However … It’s not all about hockey! SMHC is known for its infamous tour (this year it will be abroad!), weekend tournaments with other UK medical schools and the fantastic socials.
