Sheffield Medics Revue

About

Sheffield Medics Revue brings a group of Sheffield medical students together from all years to ultimately write, stage and act in an annual comedy show with a healthcare theme. Students can help backstage or as part of the band as well as by helping to write and act in sketches and songs. All money raised goes to a chosen charity, last year raising over £3000 for a local homelessness charity! We also organise an annual weekend trip away which is always enjoyed by all, as well as having weekly catch ups to socialise and get ideas together. Sheffield Medics Revue is a great society to make friends from all years and of course to have fun!Sheffield Medics’ Revue is a comedy society, incorporating acting, singing and music. We put on a comedy Revue show over 3 nights every February. We perform original comedy sketches, videos/vines/memes and parody songs (with an orchestra), taking the mick out of all things medicine! Previous song titles have included “Perineal tear” (Livin’ on a prayer), “I can’t go” (Let it go), and “I’d rather eat” (Rather be). If you think you’re funny, or don’t think you’re funny at all, Medics’ Revue is perfect for you. All levels of ability are encouraged to join – from those who have never been on stage to professional performers.

We meet every Monday evening at the best pub in Crookes – The Cobden View – to discuss sketch ideas, have a drink and most importantly eat free chip butties! Everyone in the society is very welcoming. Rehearsals come after the weekend away in January until the show. We raise all our money for charity. We decide on a different one each year to fundraise for. This year we raised £1500 for Sheffield ASSIST, which helps asylum seekers find housing.

If you enjoy laughing, performing and eating chips, this is the perfect society for you!
